Well, today is the day. The big vote. Yeah, well. We're getting, at best a watered down, no public option, totally compromised bill that will likely get passed just so congress can say they passed something. Is this really going to do any good? All this seems to be doing is giving the fear and hate mongers more ammo to stir up those people that can't seem to see the overall picture in our great country.
What do we need???? We need universal coverage. Every man, every woman, every child covered. ALL people. Socialism? So what. Communism? Yeah, right. Just volatile words tossed out by those who want to scare the masses. Why can't we be as caring and compassionate about our citizens as say, Oh My God, France, England, Canada, Cuba????? We have Medicare in place. Expand it to cover everyone. And yeah, the same fear mongering arguments were made in the 60's about Medicare. And, though it has it's faults, Medicare has improved the quality of life for many many people.
What about those poor, sweet, caring health insurance companies? They'll be crushed.....
Oh, do you mean those poor, sweet, caring health insurance companies that have continued to raise our premiums, only to decrease our coverage and outright control and deny our medical care as a matter of standard operating procedure???? These heartless wretches have made billions in profit and have brought our country down to a level of medical care that in comparison is worse than many, many THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES! Blow them a kiss and wave goodbye, send them into the sunset and bid them farewell. Do it for the good of our Great Country. I guess not. Not as long as the lobbyists are lining pockets in Washington. We should ban lobbyists too, but that's a different blog.
So when they pass this Health Care Reform, what good is it really going to do for us? What about the common working family? The common people that are working whatever job that they can find now, if at all? I am in this boat. I work contract work, in.....Healthcare. I've been in healthcare for over 28 years total. My insurance changes with each contract. When there's no contract open, I'm without insurance. Nothing I can do. Oh, yeah, Limbaugh and the other airwave nazis would say there are choices. Right, choose to pay nearly double the premium for cobra coverage, or, pay the mortgage, or food. Hmmm...great choice. Anyway, what about the common working family? Is this bill going to do anything for us? I guess we'll have to wait and see. Like they tell us, at least we're passing something. WE NEED MORE! Grow a spine congress. Do the proper thing for the real people of this country.
